Second Anniversary event launches.

This week Blizzard is celebrating Overwatch’s second anniversary by giving us a bunch of new content! There are a bunch of new skins, such as Shieldmaiden Brigitte, Formal Doomfist, and Sherlock McCree, and a new map, Petra. Petra is a Deathmatch map that marks the return of jump pads and destructible environments, a new gimmick for Overwatch. Be careful with that mega health pack in the center, and watch your step along the outsides of the map.

New this year, all skins from past events are available for purchase and have a chance to appear in lootboxes. Many popular events from the past are also rotating in the arcade, like Lucioball, Junkenstein’s Revenge, and more!

A special stop-motion short called “Trace and Bake” came with the event that shouldn’t be missed. Don’t forget to watch the “making of” video, too!

Anniversary patch brings hero changes and new mode.

Not only did we get a bunch of new collectables, but when the Anniversary event launched, we also received changes for a few heroes.

  • Projectiles now go through allies at full health.

  • Clip size increased to 14 from 10.

  • Nano Boost: In Free-For-All modes, Ana can Nano Boost herself.

  • Rally: Maximum armor provided per player reduced to 100 from 150.

  • Shield Bash: Cooldown increased from 5 seconds to 6.

  • Storm Arrows: Damage reduced from 80 damage per arrow to 70.

The patch also released Rialto for competitive play after Blizzard reversed their stance on waiting for the next season to release heroes and maps in the mode. The short competitive deathmatch season began, and a great number of bugs were also fixed.
