Competitive Season 9 comes to a close.


At 5:00 pm Pacific Friday, 00:00 UTC Saturday, the current competitive season ends. At that point, players will be awarded Competitive Points based on the highest rank they earned during the season:

  • SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 65 CP

  • SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 125 CP

  • SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 250 CP

  • SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 500 CP

  • SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 750 CP

  • SR 3500-3999 (Master): 1200 CP

  • SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 1750 CP

Season 9 may best be known for adding Blizzard World to the map pool and saw the improve Hack for Sombra, and small buffs to Doomfist, Mei, and Reaper. During that time, Brigitte was moved off the PTR and onto the live servers as well. Up to now she was unable to participate in competitive mode, but that changes when Season 10 begins on Monday, April 30 at 5:00 pm Pacific Friday, 00:00 UTC Tuesday.

Contenders NA and EU Finals location announced.


Blizzard revealed this week that both Contenders NA and EU will host their finals near Kraków and Katowice, Poland beginning on Saturday, May 12, and ending on Saturday, May 13. The venue is Alvernia Planet, and tickets may be purchased here. The teams in the finals are:


  • Toronto Esports (Boston Uprising academy team)

  • EnVision

  • Fusion University (Philadelphia Fusion academy team)

  • OpTic Academy (Houston Outlaws academy team)


  • British Hurricane (London Spitfire academy team)

  • CIS Hope

  • Angry Titans

  • Team Gigantti

Notable News

  • The Retribution event is set to end Monday, so get those loot boxes before it’s over! It will probably end on Tuesday, but it’s safer to assume Monday is the end in case Blizzard changes their routine from past events.

  • OWL Caster Mitch “Uber” Leslie held an AMA on Reddit, as did the leakmaster himself, Rod “Slasher” Breslau.

  • Dennis “InternetHulk” Hawelka’s jersey now hangs at The Guildhall Bar in Burbank, California. Dennis worked with Team Liquid in both Overwatch and League of Legends, and passed away in November of 2017.
